One-on-One In-School Support

One-on-One In-School Support

Teacher helping young girl with writing lesson

School may come easily for some students, but many others struggle with the material, the rules and demands, or both.  Luckily, most schools are highly capable of supporting children who struggle grasping the material.  Yet schools at times may need a little help to support kids who struggle with adjusting to transitions, new rules, and new demands.  Those students often then start to struggle with the material as well.

Whole HeARTs Family Center has a specially trained therapist who can provide that little extra support. Families have the option bringing our Educational Behavioral Specialist into the school for a certain amount of hours per week to work with your child to give them the tools and support.  In addition, the goal is to also empower the teachers to best support your child by transferring support the skills from the Educational Behavioral Specialist to their teachers.  This is designed to be a short-term service, as the idea is not to handicap the child, but to leave them with the feeling that they can do on their own!

Due to the nature of this service, there must be open communication between all three parties: the school, the family, and the Educational Behavioral Specialist.  The school must be willing and open to this service.  The rate is $65 an hour.  Please note, in order for this service to be most effective we do require a school observation so that the Educational Behavioral Specialist can best assess and plan so that time is used efficiently and effectively. This service is not covered by insurance.
